International
Baccalaureate
|
 |
The International
Baccalaureate is a rigorous and challenging
educational program which has become established in
international schools within virtually every country
in every continent. It has been adopted by high
schools throughout the U.S.A., Europe and Latin
America. It is recognized internationally as one of
the best pre-university programs; it wields an
influence as a world-wide model for setting
university entrance standards and educational
priorities. |
The founders of the IB
built the program with the needs of young adults in mind.
They aimed to provide a pre-university education that not
only prepared students academically but also one which
helped to develop the skills necessary for overall
development. Considerable emphasis is given to
problem-solving, critical thinking, personal responsibility
and active participation in school and the wider community.
International schools recognize that we are all becoming
part of an increasing interdependent, multicultural
environment. The inclusion of two languages within the
diploma, the study of the literature, ideas, history and
activities covering a range of cultures enhance both a
global perspective and tolerance for other peoples. At
Escuela Campo Alegre, we feel that the IB program is an
effective means of educating young people to act
intelligently and responsibly in a complex global society.
