Welcome to ECA! As a middle school
counselor I am often the first person a child meets when they enter our
middle school. It is my job to ensure that you feel welcome and
quickly become a part of our school community. Each new student is
assigned a buddy who will welcome and assist new students by introducing
them to classmates, touring the school and answering questions.
Our goal at ECA is that every child will
achieve. Sometimes students come to school and are unable to focus on
learning due to learning difficulties, lack of organization skills,
friendship issues or numerous other issues. My job is to help students
though individual and group counseling, teacher/parent consultation,
creating educational plans and referral so that every child can reach their
potential in school.
Our guidance program is designed to meet
the needs of all students in the school. Students meet in advisory
groups four times a week. The advisory is a small group of students
6th-8th grade who meet with one teacher. This ensures that every child
had consistent contact with one adult in our school community. That
adult is able to serve as an advocate and a contact for their group of
students. Skills such as goal setting, decision making, and conflict
resolution are taught and practiced in advisory groups. Groups also
discuss issues of concern to students.
Sincerely,
Kris Paulson, MS Counselor
